2021 - Went from PM reading level 21 to 30 by the end of the year with 12 months tutoring. He is also reading and spelling (for single words) beyond his chronological age - Mind blowing!

Semester 2, 2021 - Finally, with an effective ILP and the appropriate accommodations in place for literacy, she received her first C grade in English. So proud... and now to tackle Maths!

2021 - Single word reading in June was 27 words and reading age of 6 years 4 months. By December, after 6 months tutoring, she was reading 54 words and had a reading age of 8 years and 7 months (beyond her chronological age!) 

Semester 1, 2021 - Within 6 weeks of tutoring she was picking up a book and reading to her little brother :)

 December, 2021 - After 6 months of tutoring, she knows and pronounces her alphabet sounds, plus consonant digraphs with 100% accuracy. Reading text now involves effective decoding of unfamiliar words and self-monitoring. She is reading 3 times as many non-words as she was at the beginning!

Semester 2, 2021 - After 6 months of tutoring, he tripled his accuracy with vowel digraph phonemes, improved all areas of phonological awareness, and could decode and encode with greater skill. This translated particularly into his reading where he reduced his errors and increased his ability to self-correct. A great foundation to further literacy development.

2021 - The end of Kindergarten was tricky. She had limited letter-sound correspondences and struggled to segment and blend sounds accurately. Within 2 terms of tutoring, her blending and segmenting was almost 100% and after another semester, she could manipulate sounds in words with ease. She could now read 22 non-words, when she couldn't at the beginning and it was translating into her confidence with reading and spelling. Now she loves writing and always wants to do the spelling activities in tutoring! Nice!

December, 2021 - The year began with Level 3 readers and low letter-sound correspondence knowledge, making decoding difficult. His reading rate was 35 wpm. Within 6 months, he was 100% accurate with his alphabet sounds and could decode any CVC word with automaticity. By the end of the year, he was reading at his age level and more than doubled his reading rate. Reading is now enjoyable - wow!

December, 2021 - After a month of tutoring twice a week, this little man, who didn't like to read, received a school achievement award for reaching PM reading level 4! His phonemic awareness and ability to blend sounds with decodable readers was coming along strong... and his confidence wasn't far behind!!
